Junior Legal Counsel or Junior Financial Profile - in Brussels

For one of our clients, a major player in the financial sector, we are looking for a Legal Counsel who will specialize in Debt Recovery and Claims Management.

 

You will join a dynamic team and work on complex cases combining debt law, banking law, and insolvency procedures.

 


Role

  • Analyze and handle complex debt recovery cases (bankruptcies, inheritance issues, collective debt settlements), ensuring proper data entry in internal systems.
  • Manage collective settlement procedures, bankruptcies, moratoria, and legal objections in collaboration with courts and various stakeholders.
  • Review estate openings and initiate necessary procedures, including formal notice to heirs.
  • Ensure communication and coordination with involved parties (debt mediators, trustees, bailiffs, courts) for filing petitions and establishing amicable settlements.
  • Compare and evaluate amicable and judicial settlement plans to recommend the best strategy.
  • Draft summary reports and proposals for management and clients to support decision-making.
  • Inform debtors of procedural progress and respond to their inquiries.
  • Monitor enforcement procedures (wage garnishment, property seizure, salary assignment) and ensure their proper execution.


Profile

  • Bachelor in Law or in Finance.
  • Proficiency in English and Dutch. French is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex cases.
  • Proactive, assertive, and an excellent negotiator.
  • Solid understanding of legal procedures and debt recovery mechanisms.
