One of our clients is actively looking for a Senior Compliance Regulatory Officer in Brussels.
A major financial institution is currently looking for a Senior Compliance & Regulatory Officer to strengthen its Compliance department.
In this strategic role, you will contribute to safeguarding the integrity, reputation, and regulatory compliance of the organization while acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on complex compliance matters.
Role
As Senior Compliance & Regulatory Advisor, you will support the organization in ensuring compliance with applicable Belgian and European regulations related to conduct, integrity, and regulatory obligations.
You will translate complex legal and regulatory frameworks into practical and operational policies while proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks across the business.
Regulatory Monitoring & Advisory
- Monitor regulatory developments impacting the financial sector and assess their implications for the organization
- Translate new regulations into clear, practical, and implementable policies and procedures
- Advise business teams on compliance implications related to new products, services, processes, and organizational changes
Compliance Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and monitor compliance risks within the organization
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement corrective action plans
- Ensure conduct and integrity requirements are effectively embedded into operational processes and controls
Governance & Controls
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and assess the effectiveness of the existing control framework
- Report findings, recommendations, and risk assessments to management
- Contribute to strengthening the overall compliance culture and governance structure
Training & Awareness
- Develop and facilitate compliance training sessions and awareness initiatives for employees
- Act as a point of contact for compliance-related questions and guidance across the organization
Regulatory Relations
- Maintain relationships with supervisory and regulatory authorities
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting
- Act as a contact person during audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries
Profile
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Law
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a compliance function within the financial sector
- Strong knowledge of Belgian and European compliance regulations
Technical Knowledge
Experience or exposure within one or more of the following areas is considered a strong asset:
- Lending and credit activities
- Payment services and accounts
- Financial markets
- Tax prevention and regulatory compliance frameworks
Languages
- Fluent in Dutch or French with a good command of the other national language
- Good professional knowledge of English
