Azure Security Engineer

• Secure Cloud Architecture: Design and manage cloud environments with a focus on networking, firewalls, databases, and identity.
• Azure Security Leadership: Implement and enforce Azure security policies, access controls, monitoring, and encryption mechanisms.
• Multi-Cloud Familiarity: Leverage your knowledge of AWS and/or Google Cloud in hybrid/multi-cloud scenarios.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate deployment using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Cost Control: Monitor and manage cloud spending to ensure cost-effective infrastructure operation.
• Compliance & Governance: Enforce security compliance in line with frameworks like ISO, NIST, and CIS.
• System Performance: Continuously optimize infrastructure to meet high availability and performance requirements.
• Collaboration: Work alongside IT, security, and development teams to align solutions with business needs.
• Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain documentation; support team members through training and guidance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT systems and cloud infrastructure, with strong expertise in Azure security.
• Familiar with at least one additional cloud platform (AWS or Google Cloud).
• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of cloud cost management and optimization.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus.
• Experience with identity management, security monitoring, and regulatory compliance in Azure.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a problem-solving, security-first mindset.
• Ability to operate independently as a freelancer in a fast-paced project environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-500, AZ-104, AZ-305).
• Experience with Azure Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, or Zero Trust frameworks.
• Comfortable advising and collaborating across multiple departments.
