Security engineer
Join a tech team in Flemish Brabant as a Security Engineer and lead the charge in protecting critical infrastructure (1 day onsite per week)
You will be responsible for driving security initiatives across the organization—from architecture and policies to threat response and awareness. Working cross-functionally with IT and development teams, you’ll ensure that security is embedded in every layer of our technology.
Role
- Lead security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management activities.
- Design and implement scalable, compliant security solutions.
- Integrate security into infrastructure and software development lifecycles.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents in real time.
- Maintain up-to-date security documentation and procedures.
- Educate teams on cybersecurity best practices and emerging threats.
- Stay informed about regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
Profile
- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related engineering role.
- Strong expertise in network security, authentication, encryption, and access controls.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
- Solid background in incident detection and response.
- Strong understanding of compliance and risk management.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or OSCP.
- Experience with cloud security (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure coding practices.
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
