Founding Engineer (Node.js / Python) — Future CTO Track

We are working with an early-stage European tech startup building a high-impact B2B software product with strong technical ambitions and a long-term vision.

The company is now looking for its Founding Engineer, someone who wants to build the technical foundations from scratch, shape engineering culture, and grow into a CTO role over time.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced backend engineer who wants to move from execution to ownership.


Role

  • Design and build the backend architecture from the ground up
  • Develop core product features in Node.js or Python
  • Define engineering standards, tooling, and infrastructure
  • Set up deployment pipelines and production environments
  • Make long-term architectural decisions
  • Participate in product and technical strategy
  • Help build the future engineering team

 

Tech direction (Exact stack still flexible — you will help define it ) :

 

  • Backend: Node.js or Python
  • API-first architecture
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Modern development practices
  • Scalable SaaS architecture

Profile

 

  • 5–10+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Strong experience with Node.js and/or Python
  • Experience building products from scratch or early-stage systems
  • Comfortable making architecture decisions independently
  • Interest in startup environments
  • Leadership potential and CTO ambition
  • The role is fully English-speaking, so fluency in English is required
