Business Analyst Insurance – Freelance
Your expertise in the Belgian insurance market, on a long-term assignment with a software vendor serving the country’s leading insurers.
Business Analyst Insurance | Freelance | Brussels
Our client is an international software vendor whose insurance division develops a modular solution covering the entire insurance value chain: distribution, policy management, claims and accounting.
What makes it stand out? A human-sized Belgian team on the insurance side, backed by an international organisation and by product and development teams of several thousand people.
The Belgian market is a strategic priority for the group, which already counts major clients there. Contracts are signed for long periods, often around ten years, giving freelancers real continuity of assignment.
With a growing project portfolio, the company is looking for several freelance Business Analysts specialised in insurance.
All of this within a hybrid and flexible organisation, anchored in Brussels.
The job
- Assigned to a client project, you hold a central role between the insurer, its business teams and the vendor’s engineering teams.
- Understand the client’s needs, challenge them and match them against the capabilities of the solution.
- Analyse the gap between the client’s processes and the standard product, then identify the required configurations or customisations.
- Work on one or more modules depending on your specialisation: group life, individual life, non-life, and potentially claims or finance.
- Be operational from day one and bring your knowledge of the Belgian market straight into the project.
Role
- Gather, analyse and challenge the business needs of insurance clients.
- Carry out the gap analysis between the client’s processes and the standard functionalities of the solution.
- Identify and formalise the configurations and customisations to be implemented.
- Translate business needs into clear functional requirements that engineering teams can work with.
- Ensure the day-to-day link between the client’s business stakeholders and the product and development teams.
- Work within your area of specialisation: group life, individual life or non-life insurance.
- Support the configuration and implementation of the solution throughout the project.
- Take part in functional validation and testing of delivered developments.
- Relay Belgian market developments and client expectations to the product teams.
- For the most specialised profiles, contribute to modules deployed across several clients.
Profile
- Freelancer with experience directly tied to the Belgian insurance market: banking experience alone is not sufficient for this role.
- Around 5 to 10 years of business experience, with the ability to be operational immediately, without a training period.
- Proven expertise in one specialisation: group life insurance (including employee benefits), individual life or non-life.
- Experience with an insurer, with a consultancy active in the sector, or with a software vendor specialised in insurance.
- Good knowledge of developments in the Belgian market, particularly local legislation and insurers’ expectations.
- Ability to translate these business stakes into concrete requirements for engineering teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ease with a wide range of stakeholders, from business teams to management.
- Full autonomy and the ability to take ownership of your scope from the start.
- English is essential for working with the international teams, complemented by French or Dutch depending on the client.
Offer
- Long-term freelance assignment, with genuine prospects of extension.
- Daily rate of €550 to €650 depending on profile and experience.
- Billing on a daily rate or monthly basis, the latter being particularly suited to long-term engagements.
- Contract concluded directly with the freelancer, with no additional intermediary.
- Hybrid and flexible setup, agreed with the client: as a guideline, one day a week at the client’s site, one day at the office and three days from home.
- Assignment based in Brussels.
- Work on structural projects backed by client contracts signed for around ten years.
- Collaborate daily with international product and development teams.
- Work on a modular solution covering the entire insurance value chain.
- Benefit from a short, three-step recruitment process.
