Security Officer

Are you ready to lead the security strategy of a growing organization? We’re looking for a seasoned Information Security Officer to take full ownership of our information security framework, ensuring our systems, data, and infrastructure are protected against current and future threats.
This is a strategic role where you’ll work cross-functionally with leadership, IT teams, and business units to implement and mature a robust information security program aligned with global standards and regulations. Your independence is critical: you’ll report directly to the Managing Director.
Role
- Define, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and controls
- Align our security framework with ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with system administrators to deploy and manage effective security solutions
- Lead risk assessments and proactively mitigate identified vulnerabilities
- Monitor threats and maintain a strong incident response protocol
- Manage audits and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
- Educate and empower teams with tailored security awareness programs
- Oversee identity and access management, privileged accounts, and authentication controls
- Regularly conduct vulnerability scans, penetration tests, and security assessments
- Stay ahead of emerging threats and trends through proactive monitoring and intelligence gathering
- Assess and monitor third-party risks (vendors, cloud providers, partners)
- Provide actionable insights and reporting to executive leadership
Profile
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or similar
- 5+ years of hands-on experience across the majority of the domains listed above
- Deep understanding of security standards: ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, SOC 2
- Proven ability to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks in diverse environments
- Experienced in managing security incidents, forensic analysis, and response strategies
- Strong technical foundation in SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, encryption, etc.
- Fluent in English and conversational in Dutch or French
