Founding Engineer (Node.js / Python) — Future CTO Track

We are working with an early-stage European tech startup building a high-impact B2B software product with strong technical ambitions and a long-term vision.
The company is now looking for its Founding Engineer, someone who wants to build the technical foundations from scratch, shape engineering culture, and grow into a CTO role over time.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced backend engineer who wants to move from execution to ownership.
Role
- Design and build the backend architecture from the ground up
- Develop core product features in Node.js or Python
- Define engineering standards, tooling, and infrastructure
- Set up deployment pipelines and production environments
- Make long-term architectural decisions
- Participate in product and technical strategy
- Help build the future engineering team
Tech direction (Exact stack still flexible — you will help define it ) :
- Backend: Node.js or Python
- API-first architecture
- Cloud infrastructure
- Modern development practices
- Scalable SaaS architecture
Profile
- 5–10+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong experience with Node.js and/or Python
- Experience building products from scratch or early-stage systems
- Comfortable making architecture decisions independently
- Interest in startup environments
- Leadership potential and CTO ambition
- The role is fully English-speaking, so fluency in English is required
