Reserving Actuary for a Reputable Insurance in Brussels

One of our clients is looking for a Reserving Actuary in Brussels. 

An international insurance group is looking for a Senior Life Actuary to join its Corporate Actuarial team and contribute to the transformation of its reserving and reporting processes.


This position combines traditional actuarial expertise with modern data analytics and process automation. You will play a key role in enhancing reserving methodologies, improving actuarial reporting frameworks, and implementing innovative solutions that support strategic decision-making.


Working within an international environment, you will collaborate with actuarial, finance, risk, and business teams to strengthen reserving processes while leveraging new technologies and data-driven insights.


Role

Reserving & Actuarial Reporting

  • Contribute to the production and analysis of Life insurance reserves and actuarial results.
  • Support quarterly and annual reserving exercises.
  • Perform in-depth analyses of portfolio experience and reserving assumptions.
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of actuarial calculations and reporting.


Process Transformation & Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated actuarial data flows and reporting processes.
  • Replace manual workflows with efficient and scalable solutions.
  • Improve and harmonize existing actuarial models, controls, and calculation processes.
  • Contribute to the modernization of actuarial reporting through automation, dashboarding, and advanced analytics.


Data Analytics & Modelling

  • Analyze large datasets to derive actionable business insights.
  • Develop and maintain actuarial models supporting reserving, capital management, and profitability analyses.
  • Apply statistical techniques to refine assumptions and improve model accuracy.
  • Support the integration of data science and analytical tools within the actuarial function.


Business Partnering & Strategic Projects

  • Provide actuarial insights to support business decisions and portfolio management.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees and working groups.
  • Collaborate with finance, risk, product development, and management teams.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as process redesign, technology implementation, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory projects.


Governance & Regulatory Support

  • Support reporting requirements under Solvency II and IFRS 17.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of robust actuarial governance and control frameworks.
  • Ensure methodologies and reporting processes comply with internal and regulatory standards.


Profile

Experience

  • Master's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within Life Insurance actuarial reporting, reserving, or related actuarial functions.
  • Experience combining actuarial expertise with data analytics or process automation is highly valued.


Technical Skills

  • Strong actuarial and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with actuarial modelling and reserving methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of programming and analytical tools such as:
  • Python
  • R
  • SQL
  • C++
  • Actuarial modelling platforms
  • Experience with data engineering, process automation, dashboarding, or reporting solutions is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and Solvency II is highly desirable.
