A leading international insurer is looking for a Junior Underwriter to join its Benelux team. This is a unique opportunity to combine financial analysis, client interaction, and risk assessment within a specialized underwriting environment.
Unlike traditional insurance roles, this position focuses on surety and guarantee solutions, supporting medium-sized and large companies in securing their commercial activities and contractual obligations.
Your Role
As a Junior Surety Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating corporate clients, assessing financial risks, and managing the issuance of guarantee instruments.
You will work closely with finance leaders, business owners, brokers, and internal stakeholders while developing expertise in both credit analysis and surety underwriting.
This position offers significant exposure to corporate finance, risk management, and client relationship management within an international environment.
Role
Surety & Guarantee Management
- Prepare, issue, and administer guarantee instruments and surety bonds
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of underwriting documentation
- Coordinate with financial institutions, insurers, and other external partners when required
- Manage the registration and invoicing process related to issued guarantees
Financial & Credit Analysis
- Review and analyze clients' financial information, including:
- Annual accounts
- Interim financial statements
- Cash flow positions
- Financing structures
- Budgets and forecasts
- Assess creditworthiness and overall financial strength of corporate clients
- Prepare risk assessments and annual portfolio reviews
Client & Broker Relationship Management
- Participate in meetings with clients, brokers, CFOs, and senior decision-makers
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships
- Support commercial development initiatives and networking activities
Portfolio Monitoring
- Monitor surety exposures across local and international programs
- Contribute to portfolio quality and risk management objectives
- Support underwriting decisions through thorough financial and commercial analysis
Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Economics
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Business Law
- Or a related discipline
Experience
- First experience in finance, banking, insurance, credit analysis, audit, or risk is considered an asset
- Strong interest in financial analysis and corporate risk assessment
Languages
- Fluent in Dutch and English
- Knowledge of French is a strong advantage
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Comfortable working with financial data and IT systems
- Strong analytical capabilities
