Compliance Officer - Specialized Financial Services Brussels
For one of our clients, we are actively looking for a Compliance Officer in Brussels.
Our client is an innovative organisation operating within the financial services sector, committed to delivering secure, reliable and compliant solutions. As the company continues to grow and strengthen its governance framework, it is looking to reinforce its Compliance function with a Compliance Officer.

Role
As Compliance Officer, you will support the organisation in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements while contributing to the continuous enhancement of the company's governance and control framework.
This is a broad compliance role combining regulatory compliance, data protection, internal policies and advisory responsibilities. You will work closely with business stakeholders, management and control functions to ensure compliance is effectively embedded into daily operations.
Your Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor changes in Belgian and European regulations and assess their impact on the organisation.
- Develop, update and implement internal compliance policies, procedures and controls.
- Provide day-to-day compliance advice to business stakeholders and management.
- Support regulatory reporting and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable legal obligations.
Data Protection & Governance
- Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of data protection requirements.
- Support the organisation in maintaining strong governance around privacy and information management.
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory obligations relating to data protection and compliance.
Risk & Internal Controls
- Identify, assess and monitor compliance risks across the organisation.
- Participate in compliance monitoring activities and internal control reviews.
- Recommend practical improvements to strengthen governance and mitigate regulatory risks.
- Support remediation initiatives following compliance findings or regulatory changes.
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor for business teams regarding compliance-related questions.
- Promote compliance awareness through guidance, communication and training initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Risk, IT Security and other internal control functions.
- Participate in regulatory and governance projects supporting the company's continued development.
Profile
- Master's degree in Law is strongly preferred (Bachelor's degree may be considered depending on experience).
- Approximately 5 years of experience in Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal or Data Protection within the financial services sector.
- Experience in banking or other regulated financial environments is considered an asset.
- Good knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, governance and regulatory compliance principles.
- Exposure to GDPR/Data Protection responsibilities is highly appreciated.
- Fit & Proper certification or similar compliance qualifications are considered a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
- Able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Proactive, solution-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities.
- Fluent in French, Dutch and English (spoken and written).
