Business Controller - International Company in Leuven

To support the continued growth of its European operations, the company is currently looking for a Business Controller.

About the Role

This role goes beyond traditional reporting. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers and translating financial data into meaningful insights for the business.

Working closely with the finance leadership team, you will act as a key link between operational performance and financial results. You will contribute to financial planning, performance monitoring, and decision support across several European entities.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a dynamic international environment.

Role

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities
Perform variance analysis between actual results and budgets to identify key drivers
Provide financial insights and explanations to support business decisions

Budgeting & Forecasting

Support the preparation of the annual budget
Contribute to rolling forecasts using operational data and internal KPIs
Work closely with operational teams to align financial planning with business realities

Profitability & Cash Flow Monitoring

Develop and refine profitability analyses across different business units and entities
Assist in improving financial models used for cash flow forecasting

Cost Control & Performance Monitoring

Track operational spending and ensure alignment with internal policies
Support business leaders in understanding financial performance and cost drivers

Data & Business Insights

Build and maintain financial dashboards and reporting tools
Translate complex financial information into clear and actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders

Process Improvement

Identify inefficiencies in financial processes
Propose improvements or automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and data reliability

Profile

Experience

2 to 4 years of experience in controlling, financial analysis, or audit
Good understanding of financial statements and business performance drivers
Exposure to international environments is considered an advantage

Technical Skills

Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
Ability to build financial models and analyze complex datasets
Solid understanding of accounting principles and their impact on financial reporting

Soft Skills

Analytical and curious mindset
Ability to connect financial data with operational performance
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial topics clearly
Proactive and solution-oriented approach
Comfortable working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
