Senior Underwriter - Insurance in Belgium

As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing, pricing and managing a portfolio of corporate insurance risks. Acting as a key partner for brokers and clients, you will combine strong technical expertise with commercial acumen to ensure sustainable and profitable growth.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including claims, risk engineering, actuarial and portfolio management teams, while contributing to the development of underwriting strategies and market initiatives.

Underwriting & Portfolio Management

• Assess and underwrite new business opportunities in line with the company’s underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Manage renewals and maintain a profitable portfolio of clients and brokers.
• Analyse risk exposures, policy conditions and contractual documentation.
• Define pricing structures and coverage terms based on technical and commercial considerations.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Broker & Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and business partners.
• Act as a trusted advisor on complex insurance matters and provide technical support when required.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations and market events.
• Identify business opportunities and contribute to portfolio growth initiatives.

Risk Analysis & Market Monitoring

• Monitor market trends, claims developments and regulatory changes affecting your line of business.
• Analyse portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims and risk management teams to improve underwriting performance.
• Contribute to the development of new products and underwriting methodologies.

Internal Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure an efficient and client-focused service.
• Share technical expertise and best practices with colleagues.
• Support strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives. 

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Insurance, Economics, Finance, Law or a related field.
• You have at least 4 to 8 years of underwriting experience, ideally within corporate insurance or specialty lines.
• You possess strong technical knowledge of insurance products and underwriting principles.
• Experience in liability, property, financial lines or casualty insurance is considered a strong asset.
• You combine analytical thinking with a pragmatic and commercial mindset.
• You are able to work autonomously while thriving in a collaborative environment.
• You are proactive, organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• You have strong communication and negotiation skills.
• You are fluent in French, Dutch and English.
