Senior Pricing Actuary (Non-Life) | Insurance in Brussels
For one of our clients, we are currently looking for a Senior Pricing Actuary to join its Non-Life Pricing team based in Brussels.
Our client is a leading insurance company recognized for its innovation, data-driven decision-making and customer-centric approach. As part of its continued investment in pricing excellence, the company is looking for an experienced actuary to play a key role in shaping the pricing strategy of its retail insurance portfolio.
This position offers the opportunity to combine actuarial expertise, advanced analytics and business insight to directly influence pricing decisions, portfolio profitability and long-term commercial performance.
Role
As a Senior Pricing Actuary, you will take ownership of the end-to-end pricing process for a portfolio of personal lines insurance products.
Working at the intersection of actuarial science, data analytics and commercial strategy, you will develop sophisticated pricing models, optimize portfolio performance and provide actionable insights that support key business decisions.
You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Finance, Data, IT and senior management while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the continuous evolution of the company's pricing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing Strategy & Model Development
- Design, develop and implement advanced pricing models using actuarial and statistical techniques such as GLM, GBM and GAM.
- Continuously improve pricing methodologies by integrating external factors including inflation, regulatory changes and market developments.
- Define commercial pricing strategies balancing profitability, competitiveness and customer value.
- Support the development of innovative pricing approaches including segmentation, dynamic pricing and portfolio optimization.
Portfolio Performance & Profitability
- Monitor the profitability and overall performance of the personal lines portfolio.
- Perform in-depth analyses to identify pricing improvement opportunities and optimize underwriting performance.
- Recommend pricing adjustments and strategic actions to ensure sustainable portfolio growth.
- Develop dashboards and performance indicators to support pricing governance.
Advanced Analytics
- Conduct advanced customer and portfolio analyses, including retention, churn, conversion, customer lifetime value and profitability studies.
- Transform complex datasets into meaningful business insights and strategic recommendations.
- Apply predictive analytics and, where relevant, machine learning techniques to improve pricing accuracy and decision-making.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Partner with Product Management, Finance, Data, IT and other business teams to deliver strategic pricing initiatives.
- Present analyses and recommendations to senior management in a clear and impactful manner.
- Mentor and coach junior pricing analysts and actuaries, contributing to the team's technical development.
- Support strategic projects and promote best practices across the pricing function.
Profile
- Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related fields.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Non-Life Pricing, Actuarial Analytics or Pricing Modelling.
- Strong expertise in actuarial modelling techniques and statistical analysis.
- Solid understanding of personal lines insurance products and pricing methodologies.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL and Excel; experience with Azure Machine Learning or modern data platforms is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and translate data into business recommendations.
- Autonomous, proactive and capable of managing multiple strategic projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
