Pricing Actuary - Reinsurance in Brussels

For one of our clients in reinsurance, we are actively looking a Pricing Actuary in Brussels.

Our client is a leading international reinsurance company looking to strengthen its Credit Reinsurance Pricing team with an experienced Pricing Actuary.


This position offers the opportunity to work at the crossroads of actuarial science, underwriting and commercial decision-making. You will support pricing decisions across a broad portfolio of credit reinsurance products while contributing to portfolio optimisation, pricing innovation and sustainable profitability.


Working alongside underwriting, finance and senior leadership teams, you will help shape pricing strategies for complex international risks across multiple markets.


Your Role


As a Pricing Actuary, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality actuarial pricing analyses that support underwriting decisions across treaty and facultative credit reinsurance business.


You will combine quantitative modelling with commercial insight to evaluate complex risks, improve pricing methodologies and contribute to the long-term profitability of the portfolio.


This is a highly visible role offering significant exposure to international markets, geopolitical developments and innovative credit risk solutions.


Role

Pricing & Risk Assessment

  • Analyse and price treaty and bespoke Credit Reinsurance transactions across multiple product lines.
  • Develop technically sound pricing recommendations supported by quantitative analysis.
  • Evaluate profitability, expected loss and risk-adjusted returns for individual transactions.
  • Support underwriting negotiations by providing actuarial insight during deal structuring.


Actuarial Modelling

  • Develop, maintain and enhance actuarial pricing models and methodologies.
  • Review pricing assumptions to reflect changing market conditions and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical tools and pricing techniques.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario testing to support pricing decisions.


Portfolio Analytics

  • Analyse portfolio performance and identify key profitability drivers.
  • Monitor pricing adequacy and investigate deviations from expected performance.
  • Produce regular management reports and pricing dashboards.
  • Identify emerging trends across credit portfolios and recommend strategic actions.


Business Partnering

  • Work closely with Underwriting teams throughout the pricing process.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Claims, Risk Management and senior leadership.
  • Present complex actuarial analyses in a clear and commercially relevant manner.
  • Support portfolio optimisation initiatives and strategic business planning.


Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to pricing governance and actuarial best practices.
  • Participate in forecasting and business planning exercises.
  • Help strengthen analytical capabilities within the pricing function.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement across pricing processes. 

Profile

  • Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance or another quantitative discipline.
  • Qualified Actuary (FIA, FCAS, ACAS or equivalent) or actively progressing toward qualification.
  • Alternative qualifications such as CFA or MBA will also be considered.
  • Experience in actuarial pricing within insurance or reinsurance.
  • Exposure to Credit Insurance, Trade Credit, Political Risk, Surety, Mortgage Insurance or structured finance products is considered a strong asset.
  • Good understanding of credit risk modelling, default probabilities and financial risk analysis.
  • Experience developing actuarial pricing models and quantitative methodologies.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable translating complex analyses into commercial recommendations.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as:
  • Excel
  • VBA
  • SQL
  • R
  • Python
  • SAS (considered an advantage)
  • Excellent command of English.
