Life Actuary - Insurance Brussels Peripheries
For one of our clients, we are actively looking for a Medior Life Actuary based in the outskirts of Brussels.
Our client is a well-established insurance company operating in the Belgian market and committed to developing innovative life insurance solutions. To strengthen its actuarial department, they are seeking a Medior Life Actuary to join a dynamic team based near Zaventem.
This position offers a broad range of responsibilities, close collaboration with the Finance, Risk, and Product teams, and excellent long-term career development opportunities.
Role
As a Life Actuary, you will actively contribute to actuarial activities related to life insurance products, regulatory reporting, and portfolio profitability analysis.
You will work on a variety of topics, ranging from technical provisions to transformation projects, while collaborating closely with different departments across the company.
Your Responsibilities
Actuarial Reporting
- Participate in quarterly and annual closing activities.
- Calculate and analyze technical provisions.
- Contribute to financial and regulatory reporting.
- Support reporting exercises related to Solvency II and IFRS 17.
Actuarial Analysis
- Perform portfolio and profitability analyses.
- Monitor actuarial assumptions and recommend adjustments where appropriate.
- Conduct experience analyses (mortality, lapses/surrenders, expenses, etc.).
- Participate in sensitivity analyses and scenario testing.
Model Development and Improvement
- Maintain and enhance actuarial models.
- Contribute to the automation of calculation and reporting processes.
- Develop analytical and data quality control tools.
Projects
- Participate in actuarial transformation projects.
- Collaborate with the Finance, Risk, Data, and IT teams.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tools.
Profile
- Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
- 3 to 6 years of experience in life insurance.
- Strong knowledge of life insurance products and actuarial methodologies.
- Experience with Solvency II and/or IFRS 17.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, SAS, R, or SQL.
- Strong analytical mindset with a solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Fluent in French or Dutch, with a good command of English.

- Gross monthly salary between €4,800 and €7,000, depending on experience.
